Evotec AS awarded major back-deck handling system contracts with PGS

Evotec AS has secured a major contract to provide the complete back deck handling systems for PGS new fifth generation Ramform W-Class.

Evotec AS has for several years been developing and delivering handling systems for marine seismic operations, and the Evotec technology is known for being innovated in terms of new design and highly regarded as operational-friendly, with focus on less need for maintenance of its equipment for the important back deck handling. Evotec AS has in its development of the technology had a strong focus on a cost-effective production of the equipment.
The new contract with PGS is for their 2 new fifth generation Ramform W-Class vessels, with an option for 2 more vessels. All vessels to be built at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagasaki, Japan at following time schedule:
Vessel no.1- 1st half 2013 -Equipment to be delivered Q1 - 2012
Vessel no.2- 2nd half 2013 -Equipment to be delivered Q3 - 2012
Vessel no.3- 1st half 2015 -Equipment to be delivered Q1 - 2014(optional)
Vessel no.4- 2nd half2015 -Equipment to be delivered Q3 - 2014(optional
The delivery from Evotec AS comprises equipment such as; Streamer handling systems, Gun handling systems including booms, Wide tow deflector handling systems, Auxiliary handling systems, Lead in handling systems, Hydraulic Power Units, and the complete Radio remote control system.
Trond Myklebust, Evotec`s CEO, said: "We are honored as well as very humble for the decision from PGS were they award our company such an important project, crucial for the operational success of their vessels. We are confident that we will be delivering all the equipment on time and within budget, so for us the “real job” starts now. Our technology is already being used by a number of international operators and service companies for efficient back deck handling, and we are continuously developing and upgrading our equipment to ensure it is as effective as possible."
Torkjell Ringstad, Evotec`s sales and marketing manager adds; “This is a major breakthrough for our company, we have for several years been developing our technology to optimize back-deck handling systems, and with such an reputable company as PGS choosing us, is a quality stamp of us as a company, and in particular for our equipment. We have now organized a project group headed by Senior Vice President Erlend Haugsbø, to make sure that we deliver on time and within budget, and we will be using sub-contractors in different regions of the world to fulfill this project.
