Controlling navigation lights–searchlights–floodlights
Tranberg Commander series control system reduces the installation cost for the shipyard and increases the safety for the navigator, built to meet DNV Naut-OSV and Naut-AW class.

Control all external lights by touch screen
According to IMO regulations the navigation lights have to give the navigator feedback by alarm if the power supply, spare supply or the lanterns have a failure in the navigation light system. These products must be approved by the class authority. The navigation light controller is installed on the bridge, normally located on the wall behind the bridge console.
Navigation light system
To meet the new requirements in Naut-OSV from DNV, the control panel must be installed in arm’s length from the navigator’s chair. The controller must have VDR output.
To meet the requirements in Naut-AW from DNV, the control panel can be installed in the radio station with in- and out-put signals to the ships main system. This means that the navigator can use touch screen to turn on/off all the navigation- and signal lights in the navigation light system.
Searchlight system
Tranberg has also developed a bus operated system for operation of all searchlights. In the new Tranberg system, the navigator can also operate the searchlights by the same touch screen. The navigator can by himself decide search areas for the searchlight so they can operate as a group. You can for example program one search point at the rescue zone and the searchlights will quickly turn to this position. Other examples are stern, the frame for streamers on seismic vessels, sweeping zone for pirates etc.
In the system there is a “home” function where all searchlights have a stop and start position so the navigator always knows the position of the searchlights. The touch screen can be combined with remote panels on other bridge consoles.
Decklight/Floodlight/Helidecklight
All these external lights can also be operated by Tranberg twin panels in Commander Series, which are then connected to the touch screen.
System
Tranberg uses a communication cable between all the panels and the touch screen. According to the requirement, you only need an own control panel with acoustic alarm for the navigation- and signal-lights. All the relays, CPU and transformers are installed in the casing on the top of the bridge, or switchboard room near the bridge.
This installation reduces the need of cables from the lights to the panels in the bridge consoles. Between the control panels and the relays we only use a communication cable. The touch screen is then connected through a gateway. If you also use a separate panel, it has a 24V power supply from the bridge console to meet the EMC requirements.
