Treningssenter i Bergen
SOhome AS i Bergen er akkreditert som treningssenter for IT infrastruktur innen segmentene Maritime LAN, Industriell kabling og Oil & Gas kabling for Nexans Cabling Solutions i Belgia. Dette er det første godkjente treningssenteret for disse segmentene utenfor NCS i Brussel og skyldes at SOhome AS har vært delaktig i utviklingen av produkter til løsninger for disse mer krevende markedene.

Dette er kablingssystemer på meget avansert nivå, hvor alle produktene er tilpasset den største mulige båndbredde og høyeste klassenivå innen IT infrastruktur i ISO/IEC 11801 standarden.
Nexans Cabling Solutions i Belgia og SOhome i Norge har i to år arbeidet med å utvikle og sette i produksjon produktene som både følger standarden, men også er tilpasset behovene for kvalitet på produkter innen Maritime IT.
Her er ikke bare det enkelte produktet testet og verifisert på uavhengig testlaboratorium, men hele sambandskanalen er testet og godkjent for transmisjon opp til 1000 MHz på GHMT AG i Tyskland.
Dette vil si at det nå tilbys en løsning for Maritime LAN som både er bedre enn hva som leveres på landbaserte nettverk, og som har sertifikater som ingen andre systemleverandører innehar.
Verdensledende
Nexans er verdensledende innen kabelindustrien, og gjennom Nexans Cabling Solutions i Belgia er Nexans ledende innen IT infrastruktur. ISO/IEC valgte å standardisere på Nexans løsning for kontrakter til høyeste sambandsklasse innen strukturert kablingssysstem Class F (Cat. 7).
Nystartet
SOhome er et relativt nystartet firma som springer ut fra Nexans og har valgt å fokusere på Maritime LAN og løsninger for oljeindustrien. SOhome har stor kompetanse innen alle segmenter av kablingssystemer og er godkjente instruktører både for fiberoptiske løsninger og kobberbaserte nettverk.
SOhome leverer komplette løsninger til markedet. Dette innbefatter ved siden av IT infrastruktur, også switching, telefoni og løsninger for sikker strømforsyning.

Wins order as supplier of Maritime LAN
Grieg Billabong has chosen SOhome AS in Bergen as a supplier of Maritime LAN and Maritime UPS Systems for the fleet of 22 ships. The Maritime LAN SOhome has developed together with Nexans Cabling Solutions in Belgium, is based on the ISO/IEC 11801 Class F standard with products created especially for the world wide shipping industry.
The Maritime UPS Systems are based on MGE UPS with marine approval from DnV, and UPS cabinets and solutions from SOhome.
Grieg Billabong AS is an independent Ship Management Company serving the fleet owned by the two companies, Grieg Shipping and Grieg International. The experience gathered by Grieg Billabong has its roots from the very first ships trading under the Star concept.
Grieg Billabong focus on safety and environmental protection as well as compliance with the International Ship Management Code, and the latest methods of information- and maintenance planning technology. The fleet complies with all international rules and standards respectively. The Philippine crew are carefully selected through the manning company in Manila, and kept together as a consistent crew-family, specially trained for their jobs. Grieg Billabong strongly emphasise on high return rate of crew, familiar with its fleet and operation standard.
Vessel maintenance is taken care of through regular visits onboard the fleet by a staff of superintendents. Dry-docking of the vessels is carried out regularly in accordance with the Class Society's rules. The planned maintenance, continuously ongoing repairs and upgrading onboard, vouches for ultimate quality and maximum service for the clients.

SOhome AS is a system integrator within IT Infrastructure for maritime customers such as the shipping industry and Oil & Gas. After several years within Alcatel and Nexans the company was set up in Bergen in 2004. The main focus is Maritime LAN, and after some months the company was hired by Nexans in order to join development of a complete Maritime LAN solution.
SOhome supports the customers with design, development and solutions for complete IT Infrastructure based on international standards and latest technology. Some of the customers want SOhome to write the complete specification, deliver project management and organize delivery of the complete solution. For others the company just delivers the products after a local training.
The latest development is the approval from Nexans that appoint SOhome as a training centre of Maritime LAN, Oil&Gas and Industrial cabling.
