Ms. Fjeldstad points out that the orders, which were received direct from the shipyard through Autronica’s Polish distributor, Sealab, are for a number of complete systems that consist of Autronica Autroprime fire detection and the unique FlexiFOG Water Mist and deck foam system.
Autronica will supply Autroprime fire detection and FlexiFOG water mist system for the protection of the engine room and a deck foam system to two 16 car/48 passenger capacity ferries called M/F “Rebbenesøy” and M/F “Uløytind”. Two larger 21 car/147 passengers ferries called M/F “Vengsøy” and M/F “Kvaløy” will also have the same system installed with the addition of the FlexiFOG micro water mist system for protection of the accommodation areas. These four ferries are of NSK design.

The FlexiFOG water mist system is approved by all major classification societies. It is a low pressure water mist fire extinguishing system for protection of accommodation and public areas, high risk areas and engine rooms and is an ideal solution for smaller commercial vessels such as Torghatten Nord’s new ferries. The FlexiFOG nozzle reduces water consumption by approximately 50% so there is less need for large water tanks. In addition to this, the overall size and weight of the system is reduced by more than 50%. This is achieved by using a unique and innovative technology to produce the low-pressure water mist and also by optimising each nozzle type towards each application.
