Healthier Economic Background to Singapore Work Boat Event

Singapore’s economy has grown at the fastest pace in the first quarter of this year since 1975.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has claimed that the economic rebound is “broad-based and robust.” The Singapore dollar has already been revalued upwards in response.
“As the regional headquarters for much of the offshore oil and gas industry, that sector’s booming activity is a major contributor to Singapore’s economy”, said Kishore Navani organiser of the forthcoming ASIAN WORK BOAT exhibition.

“Obviously, apart from offshore oil and gas, Singapore is also a major focus of tug and barge, salvage, defence, ferry and general work boat activity. It is also one of the world’s most important ship design, building and equipping centres”, Mr Navani explained.
“We expect the whole surrounding region to benefit from dramatically increased work boat activity in oil and gas, mining, timber, tourism and defence,” Mr Navani concluded.

ASIAN WORK BOAT will be held for the seventh time at Suntec Singapore from March 1 to 3, 2011.
