After being introduced as owners of Fosen Yard/Fosen Holding AS during the autumn of 2006, the owners are convinced that the sale of the yards will strengthen the company in a more international and competitive market.
Chairman of the Board at Fosen Yard, Ragner Lyng, is very pleased with the final result of the negotiations. “When we were introduced as owners of Fosen Mek. Verksteder AS and LandskronaVarvet AB (both being a part of Fosen Yard/Fosen Holding AS), the main goal was to secure the future of the yards”, Lyng states. Through reorganizations and securing good contracts the owners have contributed to the recent growth of the company. “12 months ago we realized that the shipyard market is moving towards larger units, providing economy of scale within in procurement, marketing, recruitment and engineering”, Lyng says. For 6 months the owners therefore have been in dialogue with Bergen Group ASA regarding sale of Fosen Yard.
