As analysts scramble to forecast what 2012 will bring for the shipping industry amid unprecedented volatility in the market, China Maritime Week continues to grow. The Hong Kong-based event will run from February 28th-March 1st, 2012, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
The week will comprise multiple conferences, seminars and a charity gala dinner in aid of the Sailor’s Society.
“There is growing demand for information during these uncertain times and this is why we have seen maritime event organisers from all over the world supporting China Maritime Week,” said Neil Baird, Chairman of China Maritime.
‘The other attraction is of course that China is continuing to grow at more than 9 per cent this year and next year forecasts are that GDP will grow by more than 8 per cent. This is remarkable given the global economic downturn and also means that there will continue to be new opportunities,” he added.
Francis Liu, Hong Kong’s recently appointed Director of Marine said; "This is a significant international event instrumental as a source and driving force in furthering the development of the maritime industry."
