Nor-Shipping is ripping up the industry rulebook. That’s the message from the organisers as they reveal a theme for exhibition Hall A that aims to challenge convention and embrace innovation – Disruptive Sustainability.

Birgit Liodden, the Director of the leading global maritime event week, explains: “The world is evolving and the rate of change accelerating, fuelled by new ways of thinking, working together and innovative technologies. The digital revolution has shaken the foundations of traditional industry thinking, opening up new opportunities and mind-sets. Those that don’t embrace this risk being left behind.

“Nor-Shipping 2017 will showcase the ideas and people that can help shipping position itself at the vanguard of change. By driving development and disrupting established models this industry has the chance to emphasize the role it plays in global trade and make itself truly sustainable. That could be achieved through breakthrough environmental technology, digitalisation, energy use, supply chain innovation, anything – the potential is only limited by our own imaginations. And we know our exhibitors think big!”

“You can either choose to disrupt or be disrupted,” Liodden comments. “Our main halls will retain their successful focus and formats, but this hall will act as a new gateway for the entire exhibition. It’ll provide a physical access point, but also an access point for ideas that we hope that can lead shipping on a path to environmental, technological and, not least, commercial sustainability. Shipping needs to see disruption, or fundamental change, as an opportunity rather than a threat. Nor-Shipping can help communicate that message and demonstrate how industry players can realise its immense potential.”
